What are cheek fillers?

If you are looking to restore lost volume in your cheeks or achieve a more sculpted and youthful appearance, cheek filler treatment is perfect for you.

Cheek fillers, also known as cheek enhancement, are a cosmetic treatment that add volume and definition to your cheek area without the need for surgery. They also help to soften and reduce deep lines and wrinkles.

Cheek filler treatment uses dermal fillers to help create shape and structure in the cheeks. They are an injectable treatment that consists of a soft gel-like substance that contains hyaluronic acid.

At Derma Aesthetics London, we use hyaluronic acid fillers in different points of the face to help you achieve the look you want. We will create a bespoke treatment plan that will give your face more symmetry and structure.

Why is hyaluronic acid so important for dermal filler treatment?

As we age, we start to lose volume and strength in our skin. This is why it starts to sag and lines and wrinkles appear. A lot of this is down to natural substances in our body such as collagen and hyaluronic acid starting to deplete.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps to hydrate and plump our skin. When your levels of this substance reduce, you will notice your skin become more dry and fragile.

Because our dermal fillers have hyaluronic acid as their key ingredient, they help to boost hydration in your skin. Not only will this help plump and add volume to your cheeks, but it will also make them look more healthy.

What to expect during cheek filler treatments

Every patient starts by having an in-depth consultation with Dr Raja. At this appointment he will assess your skin and medical history, while also talking to you about your skin goals.

He will also walk you through what cheek fillers involve, how we inject dermal fillers and what results some of our patients have achieved from their treatments.

What happens during cheek fillers

When you meet Dr Raja for your filler appointment, he will go through the procedure again to make sure you fully understand what to expect. This will include what points on the face we will use dermal filler injections on and how much cheek filler we will use to achieve a natural look.

Before your treatment, we will apply a topical numbing cream. This will help ensure that you are comfortable throughout your dermal filler treatment.

The procedure will involve Dr Raja injecting the dermal filler substance into your cheek bone area using a very fine needle. You can expect your treatment session to take around 30 minutes, which makes it easy to fit into a busy schedule.

Once your injections are complete, Dr Raja will message the cheek area to ensure the even distribution of the dermal filler. This is when you will get to see your results for the first time.

After your cheek fillers, you may see some redness, bruising or swelling around the injection points for 1-2 days. This is completely normal and your skin will return to normal after this. We will provide you with aftercare advice so that you can look after your skin and get the most out of your results.

How long do cheek fillers last for?

Your cheek filler treatment results should last up to 8-12 months. At this point, you will need to return for a top-up appointment. How long your results last for will depend on how your body reacts to the dermal filler and how quickly your body absorbs them.
