CO2 Laser Resurfacing London

What is CO2 laser skin resurfacing treatment?

If you are looking for a laser skin rejuvenation treatment that does it all, the CO2 laser treatment could be the answer. It is an advanced fractional laser treatment that works by removing the outer layers of damaged skin to promote collagen production and the growth of new, healthy skin cells.

This laser resurfacing treatment uses a precision-targeted matrix of laser points that we can adjust to treat various skin types and target different skin issues. In fact, this laser treatment is so versatile that we can customise it to address fine lines and wrinkles, scarring including acne scars, and to tighten loose skin.

Our CO2 laser resurfacing treatment starts to improve your skin texture and reduce any imperfections in only one treatment. With a course of treatment, you will see skin that looks smooth, radiant and more youthful.

At Derma Aesthetics London, we use the latest CO2 laser resurfacing technology. Not only does this ensure that you will see amazing results from your treatment, but it also helps to reduce any discomfort and ensure there is minimal downtime after your treatment.

What skin concerns can CO2 laser skin resurfacing treat?

If you want to see how adaptable CO2 laser treatment is, check out what skin issues it can treat:

Lines and wrinkles

This laser treatment provides facial skin rejuvenation to most areas of the face including the sensitive under-eye area. This means it is ideal for treating fine lines around the eyes and deep wrinkles on the forehead. It does this by targeting the deep layers of the skin to stimulate collagen production. Over time, this leads to firmer skin.

Sun-damaged skin or pigmentation issues

If too much sun exposure has left you with sun damage on your skin, or have hyperpigmentation after acne or damage to the skin, CO2 laser treatment can help. It works by removing the damaged skin cells to allow new and healthy skin cells to grow. This helps to reduce the signs of dark spots, age spots and sun spots and correct an uneven skin tone.

Acne scars and acne scarring

Acne scars can be difficult to treat, but this is where the CO2 laser resurfacing treatment is different. As it resurfaces your skin, the laser also triggers your body’s natural healing response or healing process. This leads to collagen rejuvenation in your skin which over time helps to plump and smooth uneven skin texture.

It is also a great option to tackle active acne. This is because the laser treatment can reduce enlarged pores that lead to excess oil on the skin, while also minimising inflammation.

Improve skin laxity around the eyes

CO2 laser treatment is your best non-surgical option for tightening the skin around the eyes. This is why many patients choose this instead of having surgery such as a blepharoplasty.

The laser helps to resurface the delicate skin around your eyes, which results in less sagging and a reduction in lines and wrinkles. It is great if you have droopy eyelids or you have bags under your eyes. After treatment, you will look more refreshed and youthful.

Stretch marks

Whether you have stretch marks from losing weight, growth spurts or pregnancy, this laser treatment can help reduce them. This is because it helps to stimulate collagen production where the stretch marks are, which helps to smooth them and cause them to fade. We can use CO2 laser treatment on most areas of the body such as your stomach, thighs, hips, and arms.

How does CO2 laser treatment work?

The consultation

Your first step is to have a consultation at our London clinic. This is where our doctor can get to know more about you and your specific skin concerns, and assess whether you are suitable for laser skin resurfacing treatment. If you are not, don’t worry, we will find the right course of skin treatments that will work for your skin type and skin issue.

Your CO2 laser skin resurfacing treatment

The doctor will start by cleansing the treatment area and applying a topical numbing cream. This will ensure that your treatment is as comfortable as possible.

We will then apply the laser to your target treatment area, which will create micro-injuries to the skin. This will kick-start your body’s natural healing process and result in new collagen forming in the skin. This is the process that helps to repair your skin and refresh it.

Your treatment session can last 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. This will depend on the skin concerns we are treating and the size of the treatment area. This will be discussed with you at your consultation.

After CO2 laser treatment

After fractional laser treatment, it is normal for your skin to appear red, tight and warm. Your skin will start to recover and repair itself over the next 2-4 weeks. During this time, you will need to wear a high-SPF sunscreen every day. You should only use a gentle moisturiser and do not pick at or peel the skin as it heals.

Our skin experts will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to help support the recovery of your skin and help you get the most out of your treatment results.

How many treatments of CO2 laser resurfacing will I need?

You may see a visible improvement in your skin after one treatment session. However, depending on your specific skin issues and area of treatment, we recommend a course of 2-3 treatments spaced a few months apart.

Many of our patients see smoother and younger-looking skin for years after they finish their treatment. Of course, it does not stop natural ageing and factors such as sun exposure and pollution can impact how long your results last.

We will advise you on a good skincare routine to follow and recommend annual top-up treatments to help you maintain your great results.

Who is a good candidate for laser resurfacing treatments?
