“Is it OK to use antiperspirants every day, or are they bad for you?” A GP and a dermatologist give their verdicts

After breathing, sweating is one of the most natural things you can do. But for many of us, it’s a source of discomfort. Turning up to work with a sticky back after a damp ride on the Tube is hardly fun, let alone feeling the familiar tickle of sweat on your upper lip during an important meeting. It can feel even worse if you’re the only one who seems to be struggling.

It’s unsurprising, then, that many of us are in the market for a product that’ll help us keep our sweat under control. So now, alongside your traditional antiperspirants, there are loads of products designed to help suppress, control and dry out sweat all over the body, from powders and primers to serums, balms and sprays.

But are these products really the answer? After all, sweat helps us to cool down when we’re hot – so should we really be suppressing our body’s ability to produce it? We asked the experts.
