What is XERF?

XERF is a next-generation radiofrequency skin tightening treatment engineered in South Korea.

Unlike conventional radiofrequency systems that work at a single frequency, XERF combines 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz within its multifrequency monopolar RF technology. This allows treatment to be tailored across different tissue depths, from the more superficial layers through to deeper structures associated with skin laxity and facial definition.

The objective is simple: to encourage a firmer, tighter and more defined appearance while maintaining a natural look.

Radiofrequency energy creates controlled heat within the treated tissue. This thermal effect supports collagen remodelling, with improvements developing progressively following treatment.

XERF is therefore not simply about an immediate tightening effect. It is designed to support the skin’s own regenerative processes and improve skin quality over time.

What can XERF treat?

XERF can be used to address a range of concerns associated with skin laxity and the ageing process.

Face

As collagen and elastin decline, the face can gradually lose firmness and definition.

XERF can help improve the appearance of:

  • Facial skin laxity
  • Loss of firmness
  • Early jowling
  • Softening of facial contours
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduced skin quality

Jawline and jowls

A defined jawline can become less distinct as the skin and underlying tissues lose firmness.

XERF can be used to target the lower face and jawline, helping improve the appearance of:

  • Early jowling
  • Lower-face laxity
  • Softened jawline definition
  • Loss of facial contour

Neck

The neck is particularly susceptible to visible changes in skin quality as we age.

XERF can be used to address:

  • Neck laxity
  • Loss of firmness
  • Crepey-looking skin
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduced definition between the jawline and neck

Under the chin

XERF can be used in the submental area where skin laxity is contributing to a softer or less defined appearance.

It is important to distinguish between skin laxity and excess fat. XERF is a skin-tightening treatment and is not designed as a fat-removal procedure.

Brow and forehead

The shallower treatment settings allow XERF to be tailored to areas where the skin is thinner, including the forehead and brow region.

Décolletage and body

XERF can also be used on selected areas of the body where skin firmness has reduced.

Your practitioner will assess the area and determine whether XERF is appropriate for your particular concern.

The technology behind XERF

What makes XERF different is the combination of several technologies within one treatment platform.

Dual-frequency monopolar radiofrequency

XERF combines 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz radiofrequency energy.

Using two frequencies allows the practitioner to work across different tissue depths rather than relying on a single treatment depth. The three depth settings can be selected according to the anatomy being treated and the individual’s skin profile.

This is particularly useful when treating areas such as the face and neck, where skin thickness and tissue structure vary considerably from one area to another.

Three treatment depths

XERF provides three depth settings — shallow, middle and deep.

This allows your practitioner to adapt the treatment according to the area and the level of laxity being addressed.

For example, thinner areas such as the forehead may require a different approach from the lower face, jawline or neck.

Rather than applying the same energy throughout the treatment, XERF allows the treatment protocol to be tailored to your individual anatomy.

Ten intensity levels

XERF also offers ten intensity levels, giving practitioners additional control when creating an individual treatment plan.

Your practitioner will select the appropriate settings according to your skin, treatment area and desired outcome.

Accurate Impedance Feedback

Every person’s skin is different.

XERF uses Accurate Impedance Feedback to assess the skin in real time, allowing treatment delivery to be adapted according to the individual patient’s skin profile.

This forms an important part of XERF’s personalised approach.

Why is XERF comfortable?

One of the defining features of XERF is its approach to treatment comfort.

The system combines Wave Fit™ pulse technology with Advanced Integrated Cryogen Delivery (ICD) cooling.

Wave Fit™ controls how the radiofrequency energy is delivered, while the integrated cooling system helps maintain the temperature of the skin’s surface as energy is delivered to the underlying tissue.

For patients, this means the treatment is designed to feel like a controlled warming sensation, rather than the significant discomfort associated with some older energy-based treatments.

No numbing

XERF has been designed to be performed without topical numbing cream.

That means there is no waiting for anaesthetic to take effect before treatment and no residual numbness afterwards.

How does XERF tighten the skin?

Radiofrequency energy heats tissue beneath the skin in a controlled manner.

This thermal stimulation can cause an immediate contraction of existing collagen fibres while also stimulating the longer-term process of collagen remodelling.

Over the following weeks and months, the skin can progressively become firmer and more refined as new collagen is produced and existing collagen is remodelled.

This is why XERF results are not limited to what you see immediately after your appointment.

The treatment works with your skin’s natural collagen response.

What happens during a XERF treatment?

Your appointment begins with a consultation and assessment.

We look at your skin quality, facial anatomy, areas of laxity and the result you would like to achieve.

Step 1 — Assessment

The doctor examines the treatment area and discusses your concerns and expectations.

Step 2 — Personalised treatment plan

The appropriate XERF depth and intensity are selected according to your anatomy and treatment objectives.

Step 3 — XERF treatment

The handpiece is applied to the skin and radiofrequency energy is delivered in controlled pulses.

You will experience a warming sensation as the treatment is performed.

Step 4 — Completion

Once treatment is complete, we will assess the treated area and provide any relevant aftercare advice.

A typical appointment takes approximately 45–60 minutes.

What does XERF feel like?

Most patients experience XERF as a warm, controlled sensation.

The integrated cooling technology is designed to help regulate the surface temperature while radiofrequency energy is delivered into the tissue.

Sensitivity varies between individuals and between treatment areas, but XERF is designed to be performed without numbing cream.

Is there any downtime after XERF?

No.

XERF is a non-invasive treatment with no planned downtime.

You can generally return to your normal activities immediately following your appointment.

Some patients may experience temporary warmth or redness, but this typically settles quickly.

Your practitioner will provide personalised aftercare advice following treatment.

When will I see XERF results?

XERF can produce an initial improvement in the appearance of skin firmness, with further changes developing progressively.

The longer-term effect comes from collagen remodelling.

Over the weeks following treatment, you may notice:

  • Firmer-looking skin
  • Improved facial definition
  • A more defined jawline
  • Improved appearance of laxity
  • Smoother-looking skin
  • Improvements in overall skin quality

Results develop differently for every patient.

Your practitioner will explain what you can realistically expect based on your skin, anatomy and treatment plan.

How long do XERF results last?

Results can last approximately 12–18 months, although longevity varies from person to person.

Your skin continues to age naturally after treatment, while lifestyle factors such as sun exposure, smoking and general skin health can influence the longevity of results.

Maintenance treatments may therefore be recommended to help support your results over time.

Who is XERF suitable for?

XERF can be an excellent option for patients who are beginning to notice changes such as:

  • Loss of skin firmness
  • Early facial laxity
  • Developing jowls
  • Reduced jawline definition
  • Loose or crepey neck skin
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduced elasticity
  • Changes in skin quality

It is particularly suited to patients looking for non-surgical skin tightening in London without needles, numbing or downtime.

XERF is not intended to replace a surgical facelift or neck lift. Where significant excess skin or advanced laxity is present, your practitioner may recommend an alternative approach.

Is XERF suitable for all skin types?

XERF can be used across a broad range of skin types and tones.

However, every treatment begins with an individual assessment. Your practitioner will consider your skin, medical history, previous treatments and aesthetic goals before deciding whether XERF is appropriate.

How many XERF treatments will I need?

Your treatment plan will depend on your skin and the degree of laxity you are looking to address.

Some patients may benefit from a single treatment, while others may be advised to have additional treatments or maintenance sessions.

There is no universal treatment schedule.

At Derma Aesthetics London, we will recommend the approach that best matches your individual needs rather than treating every patient according to the same protocol.

XERF for natural-looking facial rejuvenation

We believe that skin tightening should enhance your appearance rather than change it.

XERF is designed to support the structures and collagen within your own skin, allowing improvements to develop progressively.

The goal is not an artificial or over-tightened appearance.

It is firmer skin, clearer definition and a fresher version of you.

Why choose Derma Aesthetics London?

Technology is only one part of an effective aesthetic treatment.

At Derma Aesthetics London, every XERF treatment begins with an assessment of your anatomy, skin, and goals.

Because XERF provides multiple depths and intensity settings, treatment can be adapted according to the area being treated rather than applying an identical protocol to every patient.

Our focus is on achieving refined, natural-looking results while keeping safety, comfort and appropriate patient selection at the centre of your treatment.

We offer a FREE 30 minute review service.
